Top 100 of 2019: 100 to 91

And I'm really doing different routes...

What a way to kick off the countdown! I usually wait for year-end mixes, and see what songs tickle my fancy - this was one of them. These three acts pay tribute to the King of Pop, and it's incredible. From the vocal range to the smooth moves that can melt any floor; this was the perfect way to end the year. I hope that acts across the globe collaborate more often, because the results will blow you out of the water. Thank goodness for PopLove.

I was asking my friends what songs they've been listening to this year, and one of them mentioned this song. Jay Chou and MayDay are both Taiwanese acts with a big following, and this ballad has a bittersweet message. The song speaks about sadness in letting one go, knowing that it's best for them. What I love about Asian Pop songs are the melodies and the poetic artistry behind such beauty.

Awe yeah, Mandy Moore came back! This time, she's making music far from her Pop days. Her voice has a raspy grit to it, putting the Contemporary-Folk piece in a mature state of growth. While it's hard to say what direction Moore will be heading, I look forward seeing the rest of her music develop in 2020. I've been missing her like candy (too soon?)

More on the tame side, Charli XCX enlists Lizzo for this little toe tapper. An irresistible song about the tendencies of taking love for granted, everything XCX says is true: we have no reason to act the sour to our significant others. And yet, there is always something at fault, even if it makes no sense. Perhaps this problematic song is the solution for all of those unexplained emotions.

Diamonds aren't forever, or so it seems. Marina went solo, and took some to the desensitize from the technological world to bring us back to nature. The song can be taken as a cautionary tale, a reminder to take a break from the every day life and connect back with your surroundings. Some times, it's the simplest of things that you tend to miss. Such a significant song for a significant transition.

Don't understand what went wrong with this particular single... Artistically, this song is absolutely brilliant. However, when the song was released the same time as another single, it seems that the attention gravitated towards the latter. I do hope that this song's performance doesn't shy away Cabello from making strong singles as this one, it shows longevity for the artist.

I find myself in the middle whenever I listen to this song. While it's fun and playful, there is something that I can't seem to place my finger on. Like a train of thoughts, the song is everywhere, vocally, at least. And I'm certain that's the way the song's suppose to be, to reflect all that going in your head. Creative stand point, perhaps I need some more Carly Rae Jepsen time.

Every year, there seems to be that one song from Europe that bombards the radio. I present to you, the 2019 installment of that song. It's a stunning song, and goes to show how talented are these European acts. The bridge at the end though, it hits me every time. Some times, moving on can be hard, especially when there are so many memories are less significant. Oh, the feels.

One word to describe this song: funny. This chant provides all of these social activities that we find ourselves backing out of - whether you're not in the mood, or got too much stuff going in your mind, this song's got your covered. In all seriousness, I believe this song shows that we're all similar, and that some times we're better off alone. Would it be wrong to call this a happy song? I hope not.

To be honest with you, I cannot recall where I found this song. I believe I either found this song on TikTok, or while I was visiting China. Either way, this sad song is full of metaphors, as Chen sings about her sorrows that can't be fully expressed. Sometimes, the person you want to be sad around is the person who cares less... Regardless, a sweet an innocent voice played against a subtle sound.
