A song to slow down the chart, Tyler Shaw released this ballad earlier this year. This can explain why he won the MuchMusic contest. With the piano and the dramatic drumming, it's everything you want in a sappy love song - made with extra sap. It's perfect.

The next Canadian pop sensation has already performed all around the world and won the hearts of young girls. That's not a bad year for Shawn Mendes. With simple production and a focus on his vocals, it makes you hunger for his next big hit (minus that duet).

One of the biggest artists this year had to be Abel Tesfaye. Having numerous singles released, this one stays true to his identity. It's brilliant that the people behind the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' soundtrack added this masterpiece, it was a nice entrance to the international stage.

When this song was released, it would be on repeat via radio all the time. It's mesmerizing and takes you on a trance that hints at your curiosity. You don't know what it is, but you need to find out. Now is the time to let the inner demons find their desires.

For five people who played off one guitar, they have come a long way. There's something about their music that you simply enjoy. Pretty easy to follow, and it's a song I definitely want to see at any karaoke bar. After all, everybody wants to rule the world.

Blunt and straight to the point, but in a casual manner. It's the lounge song with a subtle undertone that may be hard to catch if it weren't for the title. She knows what she likes, and she'll go for it without any hesitation. And when asked so smooth, could you deny?

Of all the artists that released new music, this one took me by surprise. From YTV, Charlie was this little girl with this glittery confection of a song. Now, she's all grown up, shedding that image for a more modern look. And I must say, I am impressed with the effort.
