Don't know how I got into the hype of BTS, but I am loving every minute of their newfound fame. Not only have they made success in North America, they have done it all while in the Korean language. While many K-Pop artists attempt to break into North American grounds, the band has managed to gain recognition without using another language. And hopefully this song sets the standards of Pop music in North America.
Although not claimed as a Country album, this has some influence from Country music. Stuck in the confusion of it all, Justin and Chris questions whether anything will get better if you were to spit out the truth. But perhaps, nothing is meant to be said aloud... A subject I can much relate. If Timberlake were to continue with the Country tunes, I'm sure he'll find a new success, as well as carry a larger fanbase.
Growing through the pressures of adulthood, it's hard to decline invitations that are also accepted as standards. What I commend about Shawn Mendes is how he stands his ground, not needing to validate himself to prove a point. While the song may make his young fans swoon, it's mature enough for anyone to understand what he's going through. Solid effort, and undeniably catchy.
The official 'Friend-zoned' anthem of our times. When matters become worse, you just need to be direct. What may seem painful is probably also helpful - you can't help but be honest to someone you're not interested in pursuing a relationship. I wonder how many people had to play this song to someone else... But any way, this Pop song is one for the books, as the need to be savage is strong with this one.
"Random" is the best way to describe the song. Have no clue how this track came into fruition, but it became the soundtrack of many workouts. The whole composition of the song creates a good time, as the story tells about a woman who is out to have a good time. Not every one may get to have sushi from Japan in an evening, but every one can absolutely have a good-kicking time such as the sought-after actor.
Didn't hear much from the other members of One Direction, but Liam Payne could not be kept silent. Aside from being the most influential person on Twitter, he also created music outside of his comfort zone. Take this collaboration with J Balvin, adding a Latin flare to his repertoire. Not only does the song work on many levels, it's a track that gets everyone pumped. Let the mid-2000 vibes come rolling in, please.
While everyone is looking for fame, Charlie Puth wants to be left alone - good luck with that. At first, I didn't understand the song, sounded like the 'boo-hoo, I'm famous' single that every artist releases. But after a few more spins, I began to get where he's coming from, like a motto that I follow. You can't please every one, but you accept a person as they are. To being yourself, in the most Pop-Rock way possible.
A song that can bring everyone together, it celebrates life! No one is more iconic than Janet Jackson, and the fact that she's still making music satisfies my inner child. Combining her dance and vocals, she creates this masterpiece with Daddy Yankee to welcome every one to participate in one song that tells you to live in the moment. Honestly, this song could have been a Fifa World Cup track, envying Sharkira's "Waka Waka."
Ne-Yo doesn't get a lot of attention these days, but I appreciate the music he has released this year. Teaming up with Bebe Rexha and Stefflon Don, they create the beach-inspired song that would be my personal song of the summer. From the Dance Hall inspiration to the non-stop dancing in the video, the whole package is presented nicely. Something I didn't know that could come out of all these artists, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Can't get enough of these Spanish collaborations, and this one has to be one of the best. Dramatic, cinematic, and full of suspense, this song could be turned into a series of its own. Marina and Luis Fonsi are an unlikely pair for the Clean Bandit track that compliment each other so well. For the lost love, may they move on to bigger and better things. If life sounded like this, things would be more interesting.
