Top 100 of 2018: 70 to 61

Did I constellate your light right next to mine?

Didn't understand the whole controversy behind this song, I just don't see how this is harmful to the LGBTQ community? A playful song about wanting to have fun with other members of the same sex. If having fun comes with consequences, then it sure sounds entertaining. And look at all of the women behind this track, it's rather a shame that the song took a turn in the wrong way. Maybe it's about time to tone down the sensitivity, people...

Quite a cinematic piece, this one. Thought the song would have been a political piece, but after few listens, I think it's more of a 'mature content is strongly advised' one. Ariana explored her feminine side, going in real deep with the whispering and heavy innuendos... But if someone can give it to you real good, you might just start believing that God is in fact, a woman. Got to get it good.

I do enjoy the vocal stylings of Tory Lanez, he has one unique sound that is incomparable. So when he collaborates with Electronic DJs Keys N Krates, you get one lounge vibe that is outstanding. The song sounds like one I've heard before, and the instrumental breaks satisfies the ears o a tee. Every thing about this track is so cool, but it's a shame that the song didn't get much attention. Canadian music now needs to take centre stage.

When Asians collaborate, it's all done in English. Not sure if BTS have sung in English, but Steve Aoki shows a different side that we didn't know that we need. Sure, the rap verses are slow, but you got to give it up to a K-Pop band to test new waters since their popularity catapulted into a new atmosphere. Overall, one solid song. The radio knows what's happening, and this is something I can get use to. Let the Asian represent!

Should learn to appreciate the artists that I love, such as Janelle Monáe. I don't know why I didn't listen to "Dirty Computer," but I heard fantastic reviews from the album. Opening about herself, this song has some explicit content, all done to the sounds of Grimes. The whole fake voice didn't even get to me, I found it to be rather entertaining. Not to mention, this would be the first time to see Monáe wearing colour - and it works for her. Thank you for being yourself, Janelle Monáe.

Love everything about this song, just wish it got more attention. All about that love where your partner's parents don't approve, but you keep saying that you are the one. Just give everything time, and all will be fine. From the slow introduction to the build-up at the end, this is one of the better songs from Maroon 5... Unlike their popular hit, which I can't stand. Want something more upbeat? Try the Chromeo Remix, it's an unexpected twist.

Heard this song at a Pride Pool Party, and I'm glad that I got exposed. Tinashe is one underrated artist, she puts so much effort in her art to not get attention. Whether she's reaching those high notes, or dropping down low, she knows that you want her. Keep looking, and you might be able to touch (bet you it's just as soft as the beats on the song!) An energy booster of a song, especially when one is ready to get wet.

Nothing like some Canadian Reggae music to liven up the list! MAGIC! released this little mellow track asking for a simple request, to show how much you love them. When someone wants to take care of you and share special moments, you just need to prove yourself instead of saying it aloud. Always surprised when the song ends, when it fades away into silence... Like there is a continuation to be expected? Find out in 2019!

Was thoroughly surprised to hear 5 Seconds Of Summer on the radio, the band has been active for seven years, and only now they get some air play. There was something about this song that resonated with me, I can't tell you what it was. Maybe the compelling story told how they'll always love their past partner? The chorus is definitely a hook that carries you into your own emotions. A bit of a downer song, but it shows the growth that the band much needed.

Ten seconds, and I am already hooked on the song. The deep baritone voice makes you want to be in the mood, and the simplicity of the single becomes an instant earworm. Some times, you need explicit songs to get you pumped up for the day - or, at least a workout. If Sofi Tukker has this to offer, then I can't wait to see what other moods they can put me in - sing to me all day, please!
