Top 100 of 2019: 60 to 51

If you could see what I see, you'd be blinded by the colours...

Such a fan of Rudimental, I don't believe they've ever made a bad song. More on the mellow side of production, it's a soothing sound of synths and vocal manipulations that tackles the toils of love. Never let a bad experience shy you away from new opportunities, you don't know what will surprise you. And not to mention, Stefflon Don always kills her parts in any song.

Winning album of the year was definitely a great way to start 2019 for Kacey Musgraves. This ballad on Golden Hour has proven the diversity of her voice, touching such an elegant song with grace. Not to mention, it's great to hear Musgraves' voice on its own, adding that spark to its hopeful message. One outspoken woman, Kacey's got a lot heading into 2020.

058 Ariana Grande & Social House - Boyfriend

Full of surprises coming from Ariana Grande, this would be her third collaboration this year. Social House comes in to sing about its mix of emotions that don't make sense, yet becomes relatable. Not interested in a relationship, but still get jealous when they start talking to someone else... this is definitely vibes. Whether you've been through that experience or not, this Grammy nominated song made you feel something.

057 Lana Del Rey - Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman Like Me To Have

Tackling a series of issues, Lana Del Rey goes through her past to let everything out in this song. Despite the toils and troubles she's been through, Del Rey still needs to believe that things will get better. Listening to her sadness is tough, but also engaging to hear someone be so vulnerable to expose heartbreak and the fears that head her way... But, in order to move on, the need to stay strong is necessary.

Always a treat to hear Ciara with new music, and this one gets you off your seat. Simple and light-hearted, there's nothing like that curiosity of whether your love interest thinks of you the same way. For some reason, this track reminds me of the 70s, with its dash of disco, mixed with a part of funk from the riff of the guitars. Give praise to the melanin girls, for they know how to make hits that are underappreciated.

055 Ren Yu-Liu (劉人語) - Proof Of Heartbeat (心跳的證明)

Vacation somehow ends up being my favourite way to discover new music. Pretty sure I heard this song while I was in Taipei, and I fell in love with its fairytale inspired introduction. The song plays as the theme to Fall In Love At First Kiss, which is a remake of a popular TV series. While I have not watched the series nor movie, you can tell by the song that it's going to be a happy ending - and I'm a big sucker of happily ever after.

054 Jack & Jack - Tension

Downloading a bunch of random songs lead me to this entry, with no clue about this duo. From Nebraska, Jack & Jack made this song where you're lusting for someone so bad, you don't know what to do. With a soothing approach towards the subject, a sexual curiosity arises, making you wonder what else has build up... But let's not approach the song that way, it's definitely one that lingers in your head.

053 Carly Rae Jepsen - Want You In My Room

Moving on to a song that's straightforward, its innocence can't cover up what Carly is thinking about (wink wink). A fan favourite, the song is filled with flaring saxophones, fun synthesizers, and a chorus that gets you screaming out loud what you really, really want. Got to give it up to Jepsen, she keeps saving Pop music over and over again. The only complaint? The song should have been longer - a two minute track isn't long enough!

052 Before You Exit & Lash - Numb

"Jaded" is how I would describe this song. I don't mean that the track is boring, but it makes me feel, empty. Perhaps that's what happens when all your love has been taken away. There is nothing left, everything is gone, and this song captures that essence. For some reason, I feel satisfied when I listen to it. All of this talent from acts I don't know of, I find myself genuinely surprised by the amount of good music out there.

051 Miley Cyrus - Mother’s Daughter

The blonde hair may be back, but this ain't Hannah Montana. No, Miley Cyrus has been pushing her boundaries and is using her music to spread awareness on female empowerment. Taking a stand against society, she thanks her mother for being the ruthless and strong woman she is today... Actually, that might be what Hannah was trying to say this whole time.
