Top 100 of 2017: 60 to 51

The testaments they told, the moon and its eclipse...

060 Drake - Signs

That moment you realize you need to calm down - this song should do the trick. Perhaps Drake is settling down? Unlikely. But this song goes in a different direction from relationships, understanding that it takes some time before rushing into things quickly. Add a slow rhythmic beat, and there is not a worry in sight. Well played, and very smart from Aubrey Graham.

059 J Balvin, Willy William, & Beyoncé Knowles - Mi Gente

2017 was the year of Spanish music conquering the airwaves - and while I support the movement, it makes singing along hard for a non-Spanish speaker! But this song was inescapable, and the remix with BeyoncĂ© was an added bonus. Not to mention, purchasing the song lead to helping out Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands. Ah, the power of music.

058 The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This

The obligatory graduation song - well, at least during mine. At first listen, I didn't know what to expect from a collaboration between a Rock band and an EDM group... The results were astounding. Sure, the song got overplayed in the middle of the year, but it still has the magical touch from that first time I head that song.

057 Eamon - Be My Girl

Remember this artist? He's the one that sang "I Don't Want You Back," one massive hit back in 2003. Well, Eamon came back with a new style of music, and I for one, am living for the new sound. More laid back and full of soul, the song brings out the best of Eamon. Who knew that all of this was packed within an artist that once sang about pity regret.

056 Kygo ft Selena Gomez - It Ain’t Me

Ubiquitous Selena Gomez track of the year. Of all the songs released this year, this one got the most attention. Upon the first few times, the song sounded a lot like a message that indicates no more second chances. Up comes the video, and the song tells another story. The beauty of Kygo is his creativity with the song, which can be interpreted in different ways. A remarkable piece from the collaboration.

Sexy Dance Track, leaving regret at the door. Another Canadian duo that appeared on the radio, and I love every second of the song. From beginning to end, there is this dark tone that comes up, only to be awaken from the guitar riffs and the sensual vocals. Allow the song to lure you in - but hopefully not the the edge of giving in. After all, it's a song (or, it should be just a song).

054 Katy Perry ft Migos - Bon Appetit

Forwarding the sexual tones comes this song from Katy Perry. While the majority of people did not like this song, I found this one amusing. For those who haven't found out, cooking is one sexy quality to attract other people. While the feature from Migos was not necessary, it adds flavour to the track, becoming one hot dish you can't wait to dive in. I think the video completes the package, as nothing can beat making one delicious meal.

053 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do

This is what happens when the old Taylor is dead. Whether you love or hate the song, it's impossible to deny the mark that Taylor Swift left with this one. Shooting all of here past rivals in one song, the truth is spoken in a sample of Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy." I do appreciate that Swift is once again making fun of herself - just goes to show that this "Reputation" era shouldn't be taken too seriously... Despite what the song says, the old Taylor is much alive.

052 Aly & AJ - Take Me

After going through some changes, Aly & AJ have confirmed to go by that name. Haven't heard much from the sisters since 2013's 78Violet project, but it was worth the wait. Inspired by 80s Synth-Pop, this song has the potential to bring back the duo into the spotlight they deserve. A mesmerizing track with all of the spunk, I cannot wait to see what is next for them. Welcome to the Independent scene.

051 Charli XCX - Boys

Sexualizing men? Yes please - it's only fair if women have experienced this all their lives. Sung to video game nostalgia, this song basically parodies what most male artists sing about these days. Leave it to Charli XCX to make a little ditty about all of her desires, and being boy-crazy for the track. And if the song wasn't enough, the video is a must watch - the diversity, the cuteness overload, everything is too much to handle. Please exposing men like this, there are no complaints from my end.
