Top 100 of 2018: 30 to 21

I got these mementos, and I'll be alright...

While "Sweetner" may not have been my favourite Ariana era, this song left everyone feeling them selves. Not giving a care in the world, this song is for anyone who is tired of not getting over someone. What seems hard can actually be the motivation to move on - and this is exactly the motto every one should be feeling for going through rough times. Not to mention, the video is stellar.

An artist who has been finding her voice through controversies, Iggy came out with this song alongside of Quavo. A bit slow compared to her usual rap verses, but it's a good change for the artist (not to mention, being able to understand what she's saying). I like the change from Azalea, it goes to show that you can make one mean rap track that doesn't require any swearing - almost angelic, when you think about it.

Ever had a track you enjoyed so much, but some reason can't remember? This would be that song. Wasn't a popular song on the radio, would hear this occasionally - but Miguel deserves much more recognition. This Kygo collaboration struggles with wanting to let go, yet something holds you back for some reason. Isn't it strange how the mind works? Beautifully arranged song, I can't wait to see what both artists have to offer next.

For some strange reason, this song sounds dirty when that is not its intentions. The duo came together for this serious-sounding but raunchy track to say how temptations don't need to be indulged. If slow and steady is the pace, then let things be. Things might get a little hot, but let that all happen naturally. Been thoroughly impressed with Sivan's work this year, the narrative he's using really makes him shine.

Moving onto another maturing artist, Tyler Shaw far from his Teen-Pop phase, and moving into more contemporary sounds. Take this single for example, where he becomes curious about the dangers behind a person. Much as one says to avoid, he still needs to know for himself is it worth the risk... Parental guidance is strongly advised. But nonetheless, the single shows that Mr. Shaw has a long career ahead of him.

Though 2017 may have launched this artist's career, it would be this 2018 hit that would get every one obsessed with Cardi B. Sampling Pete Rodriguez's "I Like It Like That," this song became an instant ear worm with that infectious chorus. Throw in some rappers from Colombia and Puerto Rico, and you've got one fire track that's hard to resist. Who knows what's next, perhaps a Grammy award for the artists? We'll wait and see.

"Sleazy" would be the word to describe this song - and it's not a bad thing. The consequences are high, but some bad decisions are not necessarily regrets. The Chainsmokers always know how to make solid dance songs, and I especially like how they make the message enjoyable with the upbeat tempo. Emily Warren's voice senses the tension, but can't be helped, especially under the influence.

Wasn't sure whether to include this track on the countdown: the song wasn't officially a single, nor am I sure if it was released this year. But there's something about this track that I found compelling, from the echoes to the dark mood while the song speeds. Did not expect a single like this from The Neighbourhood, it's truly a surprise from the band. Haunting, and yet understandable on different levels.

If there was a vote for song of the summer, this would be mine. Inescapable at clubs and at Pride, this song would be heavily played all the time - heck, this was even considered as an essential work out track! A bit tiring after hearing this song multiple times, but that confidence portrayed in this track makes me want to convince someone to fall in love with my lips next to theirs. Who doesn't want to be stuck in wonderland?

Wrong feels so right. While I will not say what the song is about, I'm sure the image is a solid giveaway. Demi Lovato teams up with Clean Bandit on this song about self-love, in adult context. Again, I am a big sucker for songs with violins, and Clean Bandit always has such smooth rhythm in their songs. What diversity this band serves.
