Top 100 of 2016: 30 to 21

I come alive in the fall time...

030 Virginia To Vegas - Lights Out

Heavy radio play, but didn't mind this song at all! Set to a darker tune, Virginia To Vegas samples Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me," putting a sexual twist to his rendition. More of a fun experiment, I enjoyed this single from Derik John Baker, as he ventures to the adult side of Pop music. Got to appreciate the continuous support for the Canadian artists.

029 Dan Talevski - Knock Me Off My Feet

Moving to another Canadian act comes Dan Talevski with his colourful piece. Filled with explosions in the chorus, you can't deny its catchiness, as well as its joyous complexity. This song will have you grooving to the funky beats, and Talevski's voice will swoon you off of your feet. Give it up for the Canadians who are killing the radio stations.

028 Britney Spears ft G-Eazy - Make Me...

2016 announced the return of Britney Spears and her ninth album, "Glory." Full of sultriness, the single provided a simpler production that showed off Britney's raspiness that works quite well. The addition of G-Eazy is a great compliment to the rest of the song, making it a solid debut release. It's unfortunate that the song didn't get as much attention compared to Spears' other singles, but it shows the she's still got it.

027 MAGIC! ft Sean Paul - Lay You Down Easy

Should have known this was coming, this collaboration makes sense! MAGIC! with Sean Paul is absolutely brilliant, creating this summery song that is absolutely laid back. This is the song for road trips, unwinding by the beach, or even smoking a bit of vapour (that's the only lyric I know to heart). Although I may not understand Sean Paul's part, this song can be thrown on for any feel-good mood.

026 Justin Bieber - Company

One of many singles that Justin Bieber released, this has to be the painfully honest. In our times, seems that people want to have someone, but not be committed to a relationship. Set to a relaxing beat, this song has proven that even gray areas bring out confusion that isn't easy to understand. Being the final single off of "Purpose," the song displays Bieber's trails through love, needing to know what happens next. Another artist with a career all over the place, you cannot ignore the talent.

025 Meghan Trainor - Me Too

I must say, this might be Meghan Trainor's most fun single so far. Forget about the Bass, it's all about the confidence! Just making it to 3 minutes, the song brings out the sass of Trainor without going overboard gloating... All in all, it's a silly track sending out some positive vibes. The point that made me really enjoy the song though? Seeing a drag queen lip sync to this song - after all, who else can deliver the message as strong as Meghan Trainor?

024 Mogul ft DiRTY RADiO - Making My World

Searching for more DiRTY RADiO content, I stumbled upon this song. I gave the song a try, and I instantly knew this would be one of my favourite songs for 2016. This songs takes you to a happy place that you wish to stay, putting you in the most giddiest of moods. And honestly, who doesn't want someone to make them feel like they're making their world? If this is what falling love sounds like, sign me up!

023 Fifth Harmony ft Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home

The song that launched Fifth Harmony into stardom. I didn't think that their song "Worth It" could have been topped, but in came this track. Come for the song, but stay for the rhythm - that bopping sound is infectious. Although I am not a fan of the message, you can't help but sing along to the track - especially when Ty Dolla $ign asks to clap with no hands. I am still baffled how this song got massively popular, the song is rather similar to "Worth It," but I am glad that the girl group is getting the attention. The girl group lives on!

022 Cashmere Cat ft Selena Gomez & Tory Lanez - Trust Nobody

A surprise that I didn't expect. First heard this song while on vacation, at a frozen yogurt shop... Oddly specific, but I was surprised to hear Selena Gomez out with a new song. In this collaboration with Cashmere Cat & Tory Lanez, the song brings out the brilliance of each artist. From beginning to end, the track has this hopefulness that you're curious to find out. The drumming definitely has an effect, as a reminder that there is something different this time. Not a bad surprise from a frozen yogurt shop.

021 The Weeknd ft Daft Punk - Starboy

If one kills their old self in the video, that can only mean a revival. In an unexpected move, The Weeknd started clean with his social media to prepare the era of "Starboy." Abel Tesfaye went into another realm of Hip Hop, and released this collaboration with Daft Punk. While the contents of the song sound like old Weeknd, the tracks comes off more cynical, but in the best way possible. Who knew that Daft Punk can create such dark music that makes you feel that you don't care no more... This is only the beginning, and I am excited for The Weeknd in 2017.
