Top 100 of 2016: 40 to 31

Woke up and felt the vibe, whoo!

040 Sia - The Greatest

The Fighter song, if you will. Is there anything Sia cannot do? Most inspirational songs can come of cheesy, but this one has a jolt that hits hard. Whatever you have to face, this is the song to put on and sing at the top of your lungs. Give it up to the artist who is all about the voice, she has the music scene all figured out.

039 Kanye West - Famous

Do I like the song, or not? I was conflicted to put this song on the list, due to its controversy - aside from personal thoughts, Kanye West is truly talented. From one insult to another, it's hard to deny the artistry, including the sampling, as well as the art reference for the video. While I don't necessarily agree with everything said in the song, it's one that won't leave my mind right away... Even when you don't want to like a song, you simply can't.

038 Christina Aguilera ft Nile Rodgers - Telepathy

Where oh where has Christina Aguilera gone? Seems like all this artist does is features, or commercials. It's not like she's not inspired, just listen to this track! One of her best songs, Christina proves that she is able to put herself into any era, and make it work. It's all glitter and disco, and teaming up with Nile Rodgers shows that the simplicity of the song can make her vocals stand out. Will 2017 deliver a comeback? We will have to find out.

037 Taylor Swift - Out Of The Woods

Shocking and inspiring is how I would describe this song. There is a tone of hope, only to crave more once the song ends. Taylor Swift questions where the relationship stands, whether they have gone through all of the confusion and can start again. But like the message depicted in the video, maybe the journey brings you somewhere else. It's a masterpiece on its own, and a shame that the song did not receive as much attention compared to her previous singles.

036 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself

All grown up, my wife shows her sexy side without feeling ashamed. While I may not understand who are the downs and the uppers, I am sure that Selena wants to get there with this person. The song is more like a whisper, revealing these secrets that hopefully become a reality. I must say, even the 'uh-uh' parts are rather catchy. To my wife, may you be liberated and turn a new chapter into the Revival era.

035 Beyoncé Knowles - All Night

One of my favourite songs off the 'Lemonade' album, there's a reason why this is towards the end. I believe Beyoncé is a wise woman, understanding the love she has given to her loved ones. The song shows the strength of a person, and the willingness to forgive so that the relationship can grow - because, you don't give up on the ones that you love. I may be a hopeless romantic, but it's songs like these that make me believe that there is a true love that must be held on to.

034 The Weeknd ft Daft Punk - I Feel It Coming

Looky over here, another collaboration with Daft Punk! I am loving the 'Starboy' era, it's showing a more Pop-vibe from Abel Tesfaye with an irresistible soundtrack. I may think of this song to be dirty, yet The Weeknd can make anything sound sensual, especially with that voice. Not overpowering, this song is pure slow jams, mixed with the classic stylings of Daft Punk. Who would have thought that these two artists would make sweet-loving music?

033 Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners - This Girl

The 'woo' part has to be the highlight of the song! Hands down, this single had to be the song of the summer - and rightfully so. The guitar part introduces you to a good time, and leaves you so satisfied, that you want to put the song on repeat. I love when DJs can create a new life to old songs, it exposes the good music to the public. And if you are not tempted to dance to the song, you may not have a soul... You can't not want to at least bop your head to this smasher.

032 Alessia Cara - Scars To Your Beautiful

Alessia Cara has been an inspirational guidance for young people, where her music shines. Reflecting on beauty standards, she reminds everyone that they shouldn't pressure themselves to look a certain way. I am proud of Alessia Cara, and the direction where she brings her music - she's using the platform to get her voice heard, and everyone is listening. I can't wait to see what next hit she will release.

031 Zendaya ft Chris Brown - Something New

An unexpected song, with an unexpected feature. Sampling TLC's 'Creep,' this song could have gone really bad - and I am glad to say, it came out really good. Zendaya is an astounding act, who is versatile in everything she does. So, it questions me why she needed to add Chris Brown to the song? I mean, his part is catchy, but a bit too edited compared to the rawness of Zendaya's voice. But nonetheless, the song delivered a new grit that has got me loving TLC all over again.
