Top 100 of 2017: 80 to 71

It's a brand new start, a dream come true...

080 Maroon 5 ft Future - Cold

At the beginning of the year, this was one of my favourite tracks... so what happened? I admit that the edgier songs better reflect the band, and having a feature by Future completed the entire piece. But, the melodramatic piece couldn't live up to the rest of the year, even with its bass-filled drum beat.

Honestly though Echosmith would have been a one-hit wonder, but this song was a shake-up. Going for the darker sound meeting tropical drum beats, this song is one you cannot get sick of... yet. Every time I hear this song, it always sounds new and refreshing. Hopefully I never get tired of this song.

078 Future ft Rihanna - Selfish

Mellow track done right. The unconventional love song of the chart, Future appears again, with a warmth and comfort from his lyrical content. And Rihanna was the best touch of the song, never going over with her vocals. The overall quietness is the main strength in this single.

077 Kelly Clarkson - Love So Soft

All that jazz is fulfilled, thanks to Kelly Clarkson. Wanting to explore this sound, the American Idol presents her vocal ability in this confection. From hitting the high notes to the technicolour visual experience, this song breaks the Pop form of Clarkson. Thank goodness we get to see the new Kelly Clarkson.

076 Hunter Hayes ft The Shadowboxers - You Should Be Loved

Goodness, a Country song with an old school sound. Hunter Hayes (he's so dreamy) teams up with The Shadowboxers, in this classic romantic song - it's basically my rose-coloured glass ideal of love. Who knew that Country artists know how to amp up some romance for 2017. Hunter Hayes, you can do no wrong.

075 Bruno Mars - Versace On The Floor

This is one of the few songs that I enjoy from "24K Magic." I feel like more of Bruno Mars' music has become more sexual, and he can definitely swoon any one into, well, that situation. Like this song, the slow jam will guarantee get one into the mood. But if you need a refresher, try the remix, which may even be better than the original. But alas, let Bruno Mars work his magic.

074 Camila Cabello ft Young Thug - Havana

I am glad that Camila Cabello ditched the earlier works for this song. Unlike previous efforts, her Cuban roots are well presented from the piano riff to the trumpets. With the popularity of Latin music in mainstream media, I look forward to the stylings of Camila Cabello.

073 Justin Bieber and BloodPop - Friends

Did not expect Justin Bieber to release new music this year. Collaborating with BloodPop, the song continues with vibes from "Purpose," and the song can be considered a Part II for the album. Similar to the song "Sorry," the best part would have to be the vocal manipulation - those random ad-libs always complete the song.

Funky and fresh, this song has it all: drama, violins, and sexual tension. From a band that's all about finding love in all the wrong places, this mischievous piece presents a good time, especially for the young at heart that want to party. Not to mention, Nicki Minaj adds a new flavour for this sugar-coated Pop Rock song.

071 Miley Cyrus - Malibu

The old Miley came back, and gave the world this piece. Bringing her sound back to beach vibes, we get to see a side of Miley that seems so natural. Think about the first time when this song was played, it was a fine relief from all of the heavily produced music that consumes the media. It's unfortunate that not many people were for Miley Cyrus' music, I think this may be her most interesting work so far.
